Brave Brothers made an image poll about his upcoming boy group “Big Star”

In an episode of SBS E!’s Brave Brothers Big Star Show, hit composer and producer Brave Brothers made an image poll held at a high school where large pictures of the seven potential members of this upcoming boy group “Big Star”, were hung up.

A thousand teens were asked to vote based on the images. He also revealed that he’d present the winning member with a sports car.

Honestly, I found this very stupid. The name “Big Star” is so lame, couldn’t he think of something else? He could have just done a talent poll rather than comparing them to see who looks better.

Just imagine how bad the member with the least votes would feel. They’re idols, not models! Talent should be more important than looks.

This is just so wrong in so many ways. Things like this could only make the members insecure about their own selves and lose their confidence.

A group should be made up of members who supports each other not like they’re each others rival. Brave Brothers should know that.

Girls’ Generation Sooyoung turns blonde for High Cut magazine

Girls’ Generation member Sooyoung astonished fans with a chic blonde look in a photo shoot for the fashion magazine, “High Cut”.

She is the skinniest and tallest member of Girl’s Generation. She is also known for her model-like legs.

She totally looks like a different person, I didn’t even recognize her. But I think that the blonde look doesn’t really suit her. She looks weird in that wig, like another victim of failed plastic surgery.

And does she even eat?

She looks ridiculously skinny in here, or maybe it’s because of photoshop. I think she looks better with her natural hair color, which is black, and her natural skin color.

Out of all the SNSD members, I think its only Jessica, Taeyeon and Hyoyeon who can look good in blonde.

Which idol group is the best and the worst when it comes to variety shows?

Being an idol doesn’t simply mean to look good on stage and have a great performance, you also need to have skills to entertain people not only through singing and dancing.

In a recent poll in an online community board “Idol Variety Show Rank’’, the legendary idol group Shinhwa were dubbed as the ‘gods’ of entertainment television.

Super Junior, g.o.d, and Girls’ Generation also claimed the upper rank, while the Wonder Girls were dubbed as the ‘worst idols’ when it comes to variety shows.

I wasn’t really surprised with the results. It actually seems legit. The 4 idol groups who claimed the upper rank are really fun and entertaining to watch, while the Wonder Girls isn’t.

Although they don’t really appear on variety shows pretty much compared to the other groups, they aren’t as funny as the other groups, they look so awkward, they tend to be really shy and not talk much. Thus making them really boring and unexciting to watch.

Kim Na Yoon shares about the criticism she received during ‘K-Pop Star’

On yesterday’s episode of SBS Strong Heart, Kim Na Yoon along with a few other finalists of Season 1 K-Pop Star appeared as guests.

My singing ability didn’t improve while appearing on K-Pop Star,” shared Kim Na Yoon as she held back her tears while she talked about the criticisms she received during the show. “Netizens began leaving hate-filled comments such as, “Why do you still appear on TV when you can’t even sing”, “Get lost”, and more. It was so hard to endure that I began to suffer from depression.”

But Kim, If you can’t handle criticisms then don’t try to become a celebrity.

It’s okay to cry once in while but this girl cries every time a judge says anything negative about her performance and its really annoying cause it seemed like she was doing it for sympathy.

There were other contestants who deserved to be in the Top 10 than her, I think the only reason why she was still there was because of her pretty face.

Also, her vocals aren’t really good so I doubt if she can make it in the industry as a solo artist. Perhaps she can be in a girl group than do solo.

Singer Lee Hwan Hee wasn’t able to become a member of SNSD because of Sunny?

Singer Lee Hwan Hee aka Fwaney talks about why she was not able to become a Girls Generation‘s member.

During a interview, Fwaney said, “I think I was in an uncertain position. I don’t think I was as good of a dancer as the rest of the Girls’ Generation members nor really eye-catching and pretty.

She became a trainee under SM Entertainment after passing the auditions. However, during the final selection, she was eliminated.

With her debut and release of her first single recently, there had been rumors springing up that she was not able to become a member of the group because of Lee Soo Man‘s niece, Sunny.

Thus through this interview, Fwaney hoped to clear up rumors and explain that it wasn’t Sunny’s fault, but rather due to, what she believes to be, her own personal flaws.

However, I think this girl is prettier, and definitely a better singer and dancer than Sunny, who happens to be my least favorite member in SNSD. She isn’t that pretty compared to the other members, and she is the shortest too.

I’ve always wondered why she was included in the group cause there isn’t really something special in her, except for being cute. Then I found out she was the niece of Lee Soo Man who is the founder of SM entertainment which may be the reason why she got the spot in SNSD.

A Pink Releases Video for “Hush”

The girls of A Pink are now back with their first full-length release, Une Annee, and its lead single, “Hush”.

Nothing much happens in the MV. The colors weren’t really vibrant as if it was from some cheap magazine. It was pretty basic and mediocre. The song wasn’t catchy at all so I just gave up on putting it on my iPod. I didn’t find it addicting though it sounds like a T-ara Lovey Dovey + Roly Poly mash up.

The dance was lame and ordinary like a starter teenage band in New York and there were times when they weren’t even synchronized. I mean, c’mon, aren’t they meant to be pros? The English is good but the rap part was weak. Their facial expressions were emotionless, it was kinda like they were tired but were forced to act cute in front of the camera.

Sure their outfits were cute, but their lead single “Hush” wasn’t. A Cube Entertainment should have focused more on music instead of their fashion.

I mean, if you can’t sing OR dance, then why not just give it up? It would be better for us audience!

Here is A Pink’s “Hush”:

[SNSD] Jessica Jung’s Opening Pitch Gets Featured in ESPN

In the May 14th edition of ESPN’s ‘Pardon the Interruption‘, it aired Girls’ Generation (SNSD)’s Jessica’s infamous opening pitch during the May 11th baseball game against Korea’s LG Twins and the Samsung Lions.

With her face turning slightly red, the very embarrassed Jessica laughed at her miss-throw while taking a bow. The viewers laughed at her embarrasing pitch and commented, ”That’s really humiliating”,” that’s really funny”, ”she’s so dorky” and ”epic fail”.

Baseball fans called this as one of the ‘worst first pitches of all time’. The fan cams and source video went viral. She was also mentioned on popular internet new sites like the Huffington Post, and NBC Sports.

‘Pardon the Interruption‘ co-host Tony Kornheiser introduced the clip by saying, “Happy belated 23rd birthday, Jessica Jung. She is in a very hot Korean girl band called Girls’ Generation. But that’s not why we’re wishing her a happy birthday. We’re wishing her a happy birthday to show you this video, quite possibly the worst ceremonial opening pitch we’ve ever seen. Hold on, great wind-up but no delivery.

Chinese artist releases an MV similar to HyunA’s Bubble Pop

Finally there is a reason to love Chinese pop, even if it is for all the wrong reasons.

In China last year on April 20th, a singer released a single album titled ‘NoNoNo’. After doing a quick comparison with HyunA’s hit song, Bubble Pop, the concept, attire, graphics and tune were very similar.

But honestly, I like the Chinese version way better than I would ever like HyunA.

I’m just so fed up listening to HyunA’s screechy voice, watching her dance like her breasts are about to fall out, and not mentioning all the over-auto-tuned sounds and over-coloured pictures in the video. Not only that, the instrumental makes me want to pull my ears out!

Netizens commented, ”the lyrics are so….awful.”, ”Kpop must be that awesome that everyone wants to copy” and ”it looks like a parody”.

But I say: “HyunA, you’re going down!

Watch the video below and tell me what you think.

Hello Venus’ “Venus” – Review

Pledis Entertainment finally presents their new female group Hello Venus, who have just made their Kpop debut last May 9 with their title track “Venus.” They are the sister group of After School and NU’EST.

They immediately grabbed many fans with their cutesy image. But because of this, they were being compared to rookie girl groups such as A Pink and Girl’s Day who also had the same cutesy image.

They topped the real time searches on various search engines. Their debut single “Venus” has had more than 500,000 views in 4 days. However, the MV for Venus wasn’t really outstanding, it was actually very usual. The members lacked energy and attitude. They also had weak facial expressions, which made them look like robots. The song and the dance were pretty much ordinary thus making the MV unexciting and boring.

Netizens commented, “It sounds really boring to me”, “I expected a lot more from Pledis and Hello Venus”, “the song didn’t excite me either”.

Overall, it wasn’t really a powerful debut for them and there is still so much room for progress. Hopefully they would improve in their comeback.

YG’s Upcoming Girl Group a 2NE1 Rip-off?

Last May 11th, YG Entertainment has revealed a video teaser of its upcoming girl group would rival the likes of SNSD, KARA and SECRET.  The group is made up of Kim Eunbi and Euna Kim, who were contestants at Mnet‘s ‘Superstar K,’ plus three “mystery girls”. Some of the members showed similarities to the members of 2NE1.

Kim Eunbi was one of the Top 6 finalists in 2010′s ‘Superstar K2‘, known to have a powerful voice just like Park Bom. While Euna Kim, who showed her talents and rapping skills in last year’s Superstar K3 may be compared to CL.

The second ‘mystery girl’, who was revealed on May 4th, caught the attention of many fans because of her beauty. Many think that she would become the “face of the group” just like 2NE1‘s Sandara Park.

The third ‘mystery girl’ is said to be one of the best dancers from YG. She seems to parallel the dancing skills of 2NE1‘s Minzy.

The video teaser was first shown on the YG-Life blog. Most of the details about YG’s upcoming girl group have yet to be revealed to fans.
